John Franklyn-Robbins
Biography
John Franklyn-Robbins was an English actor whose career spanned theater, television and voice work. Born in Cheltenham, he studied at RADA and took early stage jobs at the Bristol Old Vic and the Manchester Library Theatre. His Shakespeare work included Ariel in The Tempest and Macduff in Macbeth, and he later performed in the West End and on Broadway. He worked in the early years of the BBC and ITV and went on to appear in series such as The Avengers, Z-Cars, Callan, I, Claudius, Doctor Who and Star Trek: The Next Generation. He was among only ten actors to appear in both Doctor Who and Star Trek: The Next Generation. His screen credits included Asylum (1972) and Overlord (1975), and he also appeared in The Golden Compass (2007) and Mrs Dalloway (1997). He played Giuseppe Garibaldi in an episode of The Onedin Line and voiced the Dream Maker in the animated children's fantasy series The Dreamstone.
