Jerry Hausner
Biography
Jerry Hausner was an American actor whose career moved through vaudeville, stock theater, Broadway, radio, film, and television. Born in Cleveland, he played Sammy Schmaltz in Queer People on Broadway in 1934 and later worked at radio station WJAY in Cleveland. He became familiar to listeners as a regular on programs such as Blondie, The Jim Backus Show, The Judy Canova Show, Too Many Cooks, and Young Love. On screen he was known for playing Ricky Ricardo's agent on I Love Lucy and for voicing Waldo in Mr. Magoo, along with characters including Hemlock Holmes, The Mole, Broodles, and Itchy in The Dick Tracy Show. He also did dialogue direction for those cartoons. His film work included Stanley Kubrick's Paths of Glory (1957), where he appeared as the French tavern proprietor in the final scene, and he supplied special vocal effects for Hugo the Hippo (1975). He died in 1993.
