Plot summary
Phil Regal is a New York racketeer and enforcer who tries to control his sister Rosalie Regalzyk's life by clearing her boyfriend of a murder charge. Rosalie is pregnant and unmarried, and the man she wants is Nicky Bradna, a condemned man in prison under sentence of death for killing Barricks. Phil wants the two of them married, so he pulls strings to get Nicky out of prison. Witnesses are intimidated and a store clerk is bribed to help clear Nicky, and the murder charge against him falls away through false means. Joe McFarland works as a journalist at the New York Chronicle.
