Biography

James Handy was an American actor who began appearing in films and on television in 1977, becoming known for guest roles and for parts in popular movies. Born in New York City, he played Byers in K-9 (1989) and the same character in K-911 (1999). He also appeared in Arachnophobia (1990) and Jumanji (1995), and later in Unbreakable (2000) and Logan (2017). He played Jimmy in Top Gun: Maverick (2022). Other film credits included The Verdict (1982) and Brighton Beach Memoirs (1986). On television, he was most noted for his role as Arthur Devlin in Alias and for playing Lou Handleman in Profiler. He also appeared as Captain Haverhill across ten episodes of NYPD Blue. His guest work included ER and Law & Order. He died in 2026.
