Herbert Fux

Herbert Fux was an Austrian actor whose career spanned theater, film, and television from the 1960s until his death in 2007. He was born in Hallein and moved to Salzburg as a child, and after completing his matura in 1944 he trained at the Mozarteum University there and started out on the stage. From the 1960s he began appearing on screen, and later on television, often cast as a villain in B movies and crime films, though he also worked in Spaghetti Westerns and Bavarian porn films. Across roughly 120 film and 300 television productions, he played many secondary parts, frequently distinctive or quirky characters. He worked with directors such as Werner Herzog, Ingmar Bergman, and Volker Schlöndorff, and with actors including Klaus Kinski and Udo Kier. He died in 2007.
