Plot summary
The world's oceans are Fu Manchu's target, and a machine of his own design is built to freeze them. A fuel that uses opium powers it, and his daughter Lin Tang, an army of dacoits and a local crime organization under Omar Pasha help him take the governor's castle in Istanbul and its large store of opium, which commands the port of Anatolia. The machine also depends on a captive scientist with a failing heart, and a doctor and the doctor's wife are seized to keep that man alive. Nayland Smith and Dr. Petrie of Interpol's British branch oppose him.
