Biography

Gerald McRaney is an American actor known for a long career in television and film. Born in Collins, Mississippi, he worked in the Louisiana oil fields before turning to acting. His early film credits include a lead in the low-budget slasher movie The Night of Bloody Horror (1969), followed by guest parts on Gunsmoke, Police Woman and Barnaby Jones. He became known as Rick Simon on the CBS detective series Simon & Simon from 1981 to 1989, then starred as Major John McGillis on Major Dad and Russell Greene on Promised Land. He played George Hearst on Deadwood and Johnston Green on Jericho, and later appeared as General Morrison in The A-Team (2010) and General Luntz in Red Tails (2012). His other roles include Raymond Tusk on House of Cards, Mason Wood on Castle, and Dr. Nathan Katowski on This Is Us, a guest part that won him a Primetime Emmy Award. He also starred in Focus (2015).
