Biography

Ricky Schroder is an American actor and filmmaker who began as a child actor under the name Ricky Schroder. He debuted in The Champ (1979), winning a Golden Globe at age nine and becoming the youngest recipient of that award. He gained fame on the television series Silver Spoons, which ran from 1982 to 1987, then acted as an adult under the name Rick Schroder, with roles in Lonesome Dove and NYPD Blue, the latter from 1998 to 2001. His later credits include Across the Tracks (1990) and the television films Dolly Parton's Coat of Many Colors (2015) and Dolly Parton's Christmas of Many Colors: Circle of Love (2016). He made his directorial debut with Black Cloud (2004), which he also wrote, and has produced films and series, including Locker 13 (2014) and the war documentary The Fighting Season.
