Plot summary
Oil is what brings Barry Rogers into the rural swamps of Texas, where the Fly'n Fish Hotel stands near a suspected deposit. The hotel's bookkeeper, Brenda Simmons, passes herself off as the wife of an oil man so the party will lead her to the well site, and the hotel employee Ritchie and the guide Rabbit travel with them. Deeper in the swamp, Dr. Simond Trent experiments on local voodoo-worshiping people, trying to reverse evolution and feeding his failures to the alligators he keeps in a covered pool. Trent's wife Pat wants Barry to know that her husband has gone insane from his experiments.

Did you know?!Facts and trivia about Curse of the Swamp Creature (1968)
Can contain spoilers, watch the movie first.
- In Curse of the Swamp Creature, the title monster appears only at the climax, for less than five minutes, and no scenes take place underwater, even though posters billed it as an "underwater terror from another age".
- The Swamp Creature was built with primitive prosthetic make-up and grayish-green body paint, not the scalloped-scaled rubber wetsuit and fanged fish head mask with painted ping-pong-ball eyes that director Larry Buchanan used later in Creature of Destruction and 'It's Alive!'.
- The film re-uses Ronald Stein's earlier music from two other movies, It Conquered the World and Invasion of the Saucer Men, instead of a new score.
