Fabio Testi
Biography
Fabio Testi is an Italian actor who was born in Peschiera del Garda on Lake Garda and began in film as a stuntman and double. He was a stunt double on Sergio Leone's The Good, the Bad and the Ugly. After Demofilo Fidani gave him his first on-screen role, he appeared in low-budget genre films, playing Sartana in One Damned Day at Dawn... Django Meets Sartana! (1970). His break came with Vittorio De Sica's The Garden of the Finzi-Continis (1970), which won De Sica an Academy Award, and he became a box office name in Italy. He worked with Claude Chabrol and Giuseppe Patroni Griffi, made giallo films such as What Have You Done to Solange? (1972), and worked with Lucio Fulci on Four of the Apocalypse (1975) and Contraband. From the 1980s he worked mainly in television. In 2024, he was given the Nosferatu Award at Sitges and the Tabernas de Cine Award in Almeria.

Testi worked as a stunt double on Sergio Leone's The Good, the Bad, and the Ugly. He was one of Henry Fonda's henchmen in Leone's follow-up, but his role was cut to one shot because Leone thought he looked too clean.

Demofilo Fidani cast Testi in his first on-screen part in the film Straniero... fatti il segno della croce! Fidani later said he told Vittorio De Sica, who wanted a younger Latin actor, about Testi.
