Biography

Eduardo Noriega is a Spanish actor who moved to Madrid to pursue acting after setting aside a law degree and his musical interests. Born in Santander, Spain, he began with short films from Amenábar, Mateo Gil and Carlos Montero, plus a small part in Stories from the Kronen. His first leading role came in Thesis (1996), a major success in Spanish cinema, and he then appeared in Open Your Eyes (1997). American audiences know him as Enrique, a Spanish police officer, in the political thriller Vantage Point (2008). He shared the screen with Leonardo Sbaraglia in the Argentine film Burnt Money (2000), later starring in Marcelo Piñeyro's The Method (2005). He played Jacinto in Guillermo del Toro's The Devil's Backbone (2001), set in an orphanage during the Spanish Civil War, and took the lead in Che Guevara (2005). In Alatriste (2006) he played Conde de Guadalmedina, and Vicente Aranda's Lolita's Club (2007) brought him further attention.

Amenabar admitted in a T.T interview that he initially did not want Noriega in Tesis, believing he was just a "pretty face", though his collaborators disagreed. He eventually called Noriega again, preferring him to the other actors in the casting.
