Plot summary
To keep the last Dedalus novel under wraps until publication day, the whole translation takes place in isolation under tight security. Nine translators, one for each of the markets where the trilogy sells best, are moved into a bunker and must turn the book into their own languages. The author, Oscar Brach, stays unknown, so his publisher, Éric Angstrom, manages the project and releases small sections of the manuscript each day. Within days the opening ten pages turn up online, and a note demands five million euros to keep the rest off the internet. Angstrom leans on each translator separately, hoping to find the blackmailer, and suspicion spreads through the group.
