Dave Thomas
Biography
Dave Thomas is a Canadian comedian, actor and television writer who first worked as an advertising copywriter before joining the Second City troupe and the cast of SCTV. Born in St. Catharines, Ontario, he became known as Doug McKenzie, one half of the Bob and Doug McKenzie duo with Rick Moranis, and won a Primetime Emmy for his writing on SCTV. He wrote, co-directed and starred in Strange Brew (1983), the duo's feature film, and later played Russell Norton on Grace Under Fire from 1993 to 1998. His film credits include Coneheads (1993) and Rat Race (2001), along with Santa's Slay (2005) and Beethoven's 5th (2003). He voiced Tuke in Brother Bear (2003) and its sequel Brother Bear 2 (2006), and he also wrote and directed Whitecoats, wrote for Bones and The Blacklist, and provided voices for many animated series.
