Moving (1988) on Netflix

Plot summary

In the New Jersey suburbs, transportation engineer Arlo Pear arrives at work to find a new female co-worker with a key to the same office. The firm has merged with another, leaving Arlo without a job. His wife Monica suggests a position at her father's mustard plant, but he wants to stay in his own field. A call comes from another engineering firm, thanks to Roy Hendersen, and the post is in Boise, Idaho. Arlo hesitantly accepts. Monica and their daughter Casey are angry at the news. Monica agrees to the move; Casey works against the family's attempts to sell the house. Casey then sets a condition: she will go if she can finish the school year and graduate where she is, and stay with family friends until then. Her parents agree.
