Catherine Craig
Biography
Catherine Craig was an American actress who was born in Bloomington, Indiana, where her father, a cinema owner, encouraged her early interest in the arts. She graduated from the University of Indiana in 1936 and worked as a speech instructor's assistant while acting on local stages. After moving to Los Angeles, she found radio work before a 20th Century Fox talent scout spotted her. She apprenticed in films such as Doomed to Die (1940) and Murder Over New York (1940), then signed with Paramount, where she played bit parts in B movies. In the post-war years she took more noticeable assignments, including Seven Were Saved (1947) and Albuquerque (1948). She retired from films after a minor role in No Man of Her Own (1950) and later appeared occasionally on stage in plays like Bell, Book and Candle and Inherit the Wind. She died in 2004.
