Plot summary
Bob Davis, an American dancer who bets on horses, loses his money in Buenos Aires and looks for work at the nightclub of Eduardo Acuña, who will not see him. A bandleader friend invites Bob to perform at the wedding of Julia, the eldest Acuña daughter. Acuña holds that his daughters must marry from oldest to youngest; Maria, the next in line, refuses, and her younger sisters Cecy and Lita wait. Bob is drawn to Maria and is brushed off. Acuña hopes to put Maria in the mood for romance and sends her orchids and notes from a secret admirer. Mistaking Bob for a bellboy, Acuña has him deliver the latest note and flower; Maria sees him drop it off and takes him for her admirer, and asks her father to bring him to dinner.
