Bret Hart

Biography

Bret Hart is a retired professional wrestler from Calgary, Alberta, who grew up in the Hart wrestling family as a second-generation competitor. He started with his father Stu Hart's Stampede Wrestling promotion in 1976, working as a referee before making his in-ring debut two years later. In the World Wrestling Federation, Hart led the Hart Foundation stable and became a five-time WWF Champion, headlining WrestleMania 9, 10, and 12. He also shared the 1994 Royal Rumble with Lex Luger and remains the only person to win King of the Ring twice. After moving to World Championship Wrestling in late 1997, he retired in 2000, then returned for occasional WWE matches in 2010 and 2011. Across five decades he captured 32 championships, including seven world titles. His documentaries include Hitman Hart: Wrestling with Shadows (1998), and the WWE Hall of Fame has honored him three times, beginning with an individual induction in 2006.
