Plot summary
Miles Creighton, a corporate executive, has been dead and kept in a cryonic chamber for ten years while the company his father started carries on without him. When the tank holding him fails and the thaw begins, he is taken to a hospital. Marion Creighton, his mother, who has missed her son through the ten years of his incapacitation, arranges for surgeons there to attempt an operation that had not been possible when he was frozen. The operation succeeds and Miles revives, but he comes back without his soul. He returns to the family company and strips away anything it does not need to be profitable, firing the man who kept it running in his absence.
