Anne Parillaud

Biography

Anne Parillaud is a French actress who was born in Paris on May 6, 1960, and studied ballet in school. She made her screen debut in Un amour de sable (1977) as a girl with a kitten, and her first real part came in Holiday Hotel (1978). After appearing in eight more films, she gave a breakout performance as the title character in La Femme Nikita (1990), a role she prepared for with three months of judo lessons. The film proved popular, leading to an American remake and a television series. Parillaud then traveled to the United States for films such as Innocent Blood (1992), playing a French vampire. She has said she chooses projects based on whether they touch her heart, and she has described acting as a way to abandon herself.
