Adrian Dunbar
Biography
Adrian Dunbar is a Northern Irish actor, director and singer whose career has moved between television, film and the stage. Born and brought up in Enniskillen, County Fermanagh, he trained at the Guildhall School of Music and Drama in London. He co-wrote and starred in Hear My Song (1991), which earned a BAFTA nomination for Best Original Screenplay, and his film work includes The Crying Game (1992), Richard III (1995), Widows' Peak (1994) and The General (1998). On television he is best known for playing Superintendent Ted Hastings across the BBC crime drama Line of Duty, and he has taken the lead as Alex Ridley in the ITV detective series Ridley. His other screen credits range from Inspector Morse and Cracker to Ashes to Ashes, and he appeared on stage in Kiss Me, Kate in 2024. He also directs theater and fronts his own band.

A role that slipped away
Dunbar was cast as Bail Organa in Star Wars: Episode I - The Phantom Menace and wore the costume for publicity stills, but his scene was cut. Jimmy Smits took over the role in later films.
