Adam Godley
Biography
Adam Godley is an English and American actor who began performing as a child, in a BBC radio version of Hemingway's My Old Man at nine and on stage at The Old Vic at eleven. He grew up near Watford and came to national attention in the 1984 BBC adaptation of Moonfleet. After seasons with Alan Ayckbourn's company in Scarborough and the Royal Shakespeare Company, he created the role of Cliff in Cabaret (1993) at the Donmar Warehouse. His Broadway debut came in a 2002 revival of Private Lives, which brought him a Theatre World Award. He has received two Tony Award nominations and four Laurence Olivier Award nominations for stage roles that include Anything Goes and The Lehman Trilogy. His films include Love Actually (2003), Around the World in 80 Days (2004), Nanny McPhee (2005), Charlie and the Chocolate Factory (2005) and Elizabeth: The Golden Age (2007), and he has appeared on television in Breaking Bad and Suits.

First role
Godley started acting when he was nine, in a BBC radio version of Hemingway's My Old Man. At eleven he took his first stage part, playing Prince Giovanni in The White Devil at The Old Vic.
Early training
Godley joined Alan Ayckbourn's theater company in Scarborough in 1986 and stayed for three seasons, with productions including June Moon and The Revengers' Comedies transferring to the West End.
