Plot summary
Jack Grimaldi is an NYPD homicide detective with a lavish lifestyle, a wife named Natalie and a teenage mistress named Sheri, paid for by bribes from the Mafia boss Don Falcone. Falcone's latest request is for Jack to reveal where Nick Gazarra, a mobster turned state's witness held under federal protection, is hiding. The hitwoman Mona Demarkov kills Gazarra and the agents guarding him, and Jack is uneasy about his part in the deaths of fellow law enforcement officers. When Mona is arrested, Falcone orders Jack to kill her before she can testify against him. Jack, still leading a double life, is made her minder and drives her to a safe house to wait for federal agents.
