Plot summary
In 2032, lifelike androids work as servants and manual laborers. Elaine and Charles, a wealthy couple in the suburbs, each own an illegal android copy of themselves. C2, Charles's copy, handles his job and charms women on his behalf. E2, Elaine's copy, goes out with several men at once to collect money and gifts. A mistake with addresses sends Charles into a private board meeting, where he acts inappropriately, thinking he is seducing Elaine. C2 and E2 then meet.
