Plot summary
Roy McCormick was once college basketball's top coaching mind, but his attention drifted to the endorsement contracts he could sign, and his temper got the better of him. After a mishap involving a mascot, the board bans him from the college game until he can show he controls his anger, and no program will hire him. His only offer comes from Mount Vernon Junior High, the school he once attended, where the Smelters need someone to coach their squad. Roy takes the job, expecting a few weeks there to prove his good intentions and return him to the college spotlight. What waits for him is Mary Walsh, the principal of Mount Vernon Junior High.
