Plot summary
Freelance journalist Sydney Larkin, raising her eight-year-old son Oliver in Chicago, wants her association with BCN-TV News to become a permanent job. Her news editor, Perry, hands the station's freelancers the season's big assignment: identify the city's Secret Santa, whose expensive gestures of holiday cheer arrive with calling cards bearing only those words. Sydney's rival, Andy Cooper, is on the same chase. At one such scene she meets a man who introduces himself as Cole Howard, another freelance reporter, and the two agree to cover the Secret Santa's acts together, growing closer as they work.
