Plot summary
Humanity has abandoned the ruined Earth, its minds digitized and housed in DEVA, a space station where nobody keeps a body. When someone calling themselves Frontier Setter breaks into the mainframe, the council of DEVA can learn only that the intruder is somewhere on the planet. Security officer Angela Balzac is dispatched to the surface in a cloned organic body to find out what the hacker wants. Her contact there is Dingo, a local agent who severs her communications with DEVA. Angela is unused to organic life, and the surface holds sandworms, which she fights in her exoskeletal suit Arhan.
