Plot summary
In an alternate Britain, Victor Frankenstein once raised a corpse that could think and speak. That creation was destroyed, and later corpses were animated by an artificial program called Necroware, which is improved like software. By the 19th century such corpses do most of the labor. John Watson studies medicine and builds his own Necroware to revive Friday, his dead friend. M, of the British Secret Service, catches him, and Watson trades prison for work as an agent: he must recover The Memorandum, Frankenstein's original notes.
