Plot summary

In the 22nd century, after a world war leaves cities in ruins, Deunan Knute and Briareos, a cyborg, scrape by in New York as hired guns for Two Horns, a cyborg despot who paid to rebuild Briareos after his war wounds. Deunan keeps one goal in view: clear the debt and set out for Olympus, the utopian city of legend, though Briareos is pessimistic. Jobs that might settle the account go wrong. While wiping out rogue combat drones, they cross paths with Olson, a soldier fitted with cybernetics, and a girl called Iris. Olson learns that a mechanic in Two Horns' employ has been crippling Briareos on purpose to keep the pair in his service. Two cyborgs, Talos and Nyx, arrive on the trail of Olson and Iris, and the four move on together.
