Plot summary
Ada and Piper Spencer are teenage sisters who hope to sing in Nashville. They live on a Tennessee farm with their widowed mother Elizabeth and grandmother Meemaw, and Elizabeth never speaks about their late father. When a water pipe bursts, the sisters find a Silver Star and other records about him. They tell Elizabeth they are visiting a friend, but instead they ride with Justine to learn more. At a veterans' home, they meet Henry Monroe, who served with their father, and musician C.J. Simms.
