Plot summary
Andie West lives in Baltimore with Sarah, her mother's best friend, and dances with the 410, the street crew led by Tuck. Her schoolwork suffers, and Sarah warns that she will be sent to relatives in Texas unless she changes. Tyler Gage, a neighborhood friend, talks her into trying out for the Maryland School of the Arts, and she is admitted. The 410 resent her enrollment and throw her out. Chase Collins, a student there whose older brother Blake runs the school, suggests that she put together a crew from the classmates who do not fit in, and together they prepare to enter the underground dance competition known as The Streets.
