Plot summary
Hannah and Jess, friends since adolescence, made a pact at thirteen to have the best prom ever, and both still mean to keep it. Whatever college brings over the next four years, they are committed to that promise. They are high school seniors now, with twenty-four hours left before the dance. Jess has her eye on the prom queen crown, and Hannah, who has finally found the courage to come out as lesbian, wants another lesbian to go with her. Each had a date lined up, and each breaks that off, leaving the two of them to search for replacement dates before the dancing starts.
