Bill Morey
Biography
Bill Morey was an American character actor who was perhaps best known for playing Oscar on the 1990s sitcom The John Larroquette Show. He began in the 1940s, performing on radio and the stage. Because of the Cherry County Playhouse, he moved to Traverse City, Michigan, where he appeared in its shows during the 1950s and early 1960s and also worked in local radio and television. At the Civic Theater, which later became the Old Town Playhouse, he both performed and staged productions in the early 1960s. In 1970 he won a Joseph Jefferson Award as best supporting actor for his role in Janus at Pheasant Run Playhouse in Chicago. Michael Ritchie saw him there and gave him his first feature part, in Prime Cut (1972). Morey moved to Los Angeles in 1974 and worked in film and television until he retired in 2001. He died in 2003.
