Plot summary
A young doctor at a psychiatric institution has spent seven and a half months trying to reach a patient who is black and hates him for being white, and he asks the head of the staff to reassign the man. The senior psychiatrist, who is black, answers with his own experience twenty years earlier, when he worked at a federal penitentiary. A new prisoner arrived there and was assigned to him. The man had been arrested for sedition because of his Nazi sympathies, and he taunted the doctor, who told him he wanted to kill him but wanted to help him.
