Plot summary
Ryden Malby has planned her life since she was eleven, and graduation with an English degree is the first step: a job as an assistant editor at Happerman and Browning in Los Angeles, and a loft of her own. A car collision leaves her late and disheveled for the interview, and the position goes to her rival, Jessica Bard. Unemployed, Ryden moves back into her childhood home, where her father Walter, her mother Carmella, her grandmother Maureen and her brother Hunter, a boy set on racing boxcar derbies, all live. Her best friend Adam Davies, who has feelings for her, is deciding between music and law school at Columbia. Next door lives David Santiago, a Brazilian who directs infomercials.
