Plot summary

Reed holds an ice pick above his infant daughter and fights the urge to use it, while his wife sleeps unaware. He decides to spare his child and act on those impulses elsewhere, on a prostitute, hiding his intention from his wife. He has rented a hotel room to kill a sex worker and get away with it, and at the beginning of the night he rehearses, wiping away fingerprints and timing himself with a notebook. The call girl who comes to the door is Jackie, carrying fetish gear and a sadistic impulse. Their first encounter goes badly, and Jackie shuts herself in the bathroom while Reed waits.
