Laia Costa

Biography

Laia Costa is a Spanish actress from Catalonia who moved into acting after studying advertising and political science. Early Spanish television appearances led to her breakthrough as the title character in Victoria, Sebastian Schipper's one-take thriller, for which she won a German Film Award and became the only Spanish actress to receive that honor. She went on to star in Newness (2017) and Only You, was part of the ensemble of Dan Fogelman's Life Itself (2018), and appeared in the horror thriller Piercing (2019) and the romantic comedy Duck Butter (2018); during this period she also earned a BAFTA Rising Star Award nomination. Playing a new mother in Lullaby (2022) brought her a Goya Award, a Feroz Award, a Forqué Award, and a Platino Award. Costa later starred in Un amor (2023) and The Enchanted (2023), played Moghedien in The Wheel of Time, and was cast in Lee Cronin's The Mummy (2026).
