Plot summary
On the same day that concert pianist Robert Dominici achieves a great success with a performance in Italy, a female doctor is found brutally murdered. Police Commissioner Datti investigates the case, and the murderer appears to be a man of about thirty-five. A second murder follows: Dominici's young girlfriend Susanna is found dead together with her lover Davide. The killer telephones Datti, disguises his voice, threatens the commissioner's daughter, and says he cannot be caught because a secret makes him invulnerable. The clues lead in strange directions.

Can contain spoilers, watch the movie first.
- Gianfranco Clerici and Vincenzo Mannino's early-1980s script became the basis for Lucio Fulci's The New York Ripper (1982). Offended by how it was changed, they kept editing it and gave it to Ruggero Deodato, and parts of the Ripper story, such as the voice-disguising killer who taunts police, stayed in.
- Director Ruggero Deodato said Edwige Fenech was miscast: his first choice for her part was Kelly LeBrock, and Fenech was in the film only because the producer wanted her.
