Plot summary
The Creed family's new home is in Ludlow, Maine, far from Boston, where Louis works in an emergency room. Rachel, his wife, and their children, Ellie and Gage, move with him, along with Ellie's cat, Church. In the woods on the property, Rachel and Ellie watch a group of children carry a dead dog to a burial ground called Pet Sematary. At the hospital, Louis cannot save Victor Pascow, a student hurt when a vehicle struck and dragged him. Victor appears in a dream, leading Louis to a deadfall past the cemetery and warning him not to go beyond. Louis wakes with mud on his feet and his sheets.
