Plot summary
Suja's delivery is near after two miscarriages, and her husband Sethu, a sub inspector, has arranged leave to be with her. The leave is cancelled. His superior Shihab Ali orders him to bring back Solomon, a convict released on parole who has not returned. Sethu drives to Solomon's house; Solomon runs. Later, after Solomon attacks a man and is set upon by onlookers, Sethu arrests him. On the drive back, a traffic block stops them at a tea stall, and the owner, who knows Solomon well, begins to tell the officer about him: an orphan, well liked in his village, who married Seetha after the two eloped, and whose daughter Lachu went missing during a church festival.
