Plot summary

Hari is a software architect in Kochi who has obsessive-compulsive personality disorder and a rigid sense of right and wrong. His colleagues find him difficult, though the company treats his work as a core asset, and they arrange for him to travel to Thiruvananthapuram to present one of its products in a webinar. His journey falls on a harthal day. On the train, Gopalan, a veteran politician, and Narayani, an NGO activist also known as Nani, are among the passengers. Word reaches Gopalan that his wife is seriously ill, and he decides to turn back toward his hometown, Kozhikode. Narayani chooses to accompany him. The three get down at Paravur, and Hari follows, a detour that unsettles his routine and his standards of hygiene.
