Behind the Scenes
Plot summary
In late 1980s Kochi, Michael Anjootti holds together one of the city's wealthiest families. He took over its business after the death of his eldest brother Paily, because the second brother, Mathai, is inept. The household fears him for killing the Kocheri men who had assassinated Paily. The family includes Fathima, Paily's widow, now married to Ali and mother of Ajas and Ami; Mathai and Molly's sons Peter and Paul; Michael's brother, the priest Simon; and his sister Susan, whose husband Martin is a police officer in Nagercoil. Peter and Paul resent Michael's control of the family business, and when he gives Ami a warehouse for a cafe, they confront him. Molly's brother, the MP T. V. James, also finds his request for election support refused.
