Plot summary
Nathalie Kerr builds a happy life in Paris with her husband François. She takes a position at the French office of a Swedish company, and her married boss, Charles Delamain, becomes drawn to her. François dies in a traffic accident while he is out jogging; devastated, Nathalie withdraws from her parents and friends. She returns to work and spends three years absorbed in her job to cope with her grief. Charles takes her to dinner to celebrate her promotion, but she rejects his advances. When a colleague, Markus Lundell, comes to her office about a case, she walks up to him in a daze and impulsively kisses him. Astonished, he comes back the next morning to raise it, and she apologizes and asks that they keep things professional.
