El Topo (1970) on Netflix

Plot summary

El Topo, a gunfighter dressed in black who says he is God, crosses a desert on horseback with Hijo, his young son. They reach a settlement where the people, the horses and the livestock have all been killed. El Topo tracks down the killers and their leader, the Colonel, and leaves Hijo with the monks at the mission before riding away with the woman the Colonel had held as a slave. Stirring a branch in bitter water makes it sweet, and he gives her the name Marah. When she tries his trick of finding eggs in the sand, and of shooting a rock to draw water, nothing comes. She says she will give him her love only if he defeats the four gun masters of the desert.
