Plot summary
In 2036, a civil war in Ukraine has drawn in U.S. peacekeeping troops after a U.N. intervention failed. Lt. Thomas Harp, a drone pilot, disobeys an order and fires at a suspected enemy launcher; the strike kills two Marines but saves the lieutenant and the rest of the unit. His punishment sends him to Camp Nathaniel, the American headquarters in the country. There he is assigned to Capt. Leo, an experimental android super-soldier who passes as a human officer, a secret held only by Harp and the camp commander, Col. Eckhart. Under the cover of a vaccine delivery to a refugee camp, Leo and Harp set out to keep the terrorist Victor Koval from seizing a chain of nuclear missile silos left over from the Cold War.
