Plot summary
Stan and Ollie live in a harbor town with their wives, Betty and Daphne. A letter with a photograph ends years of believing that their twin brothers died: Alf and Bert are alive, and their ship, the SS Periwinkle, is docking in the same port. The twins are sailors on shore leave. Aboard, chief engineer Finn talks them into leaving their pay in his keeping, and their captain entrusts them with a pearl ring. Short of money, they pawn the ring. Meanwhile, Stan and Ollie keep meeting people who mistake them for the twins, among them a gang of hoodlums looking for the ring.

Did you know?!Facts and trivia about Our Relations (1936)
Can contain spoilers, watch the movie first.
- Our Relations was adapted from W.W. Jacobs's short story "The Money Box", which contains no twins at all; the film's central idea of two sets of twins mistaken for each other was borrowed from Shakespeare's The Comedy of Errors.
- Our Relations was the third and last of only three Laurel and Hardy films in which both men played dual roles; the first was Brats (1930) and the second was Twice Two (1933).
- To tell the two pairs of twins apart, the film used music cues: Laurel and Hardy's signature theme "Dance of the Cuckoos" played for Stan and Ollie, while "Sailing, Sailing over the Bounding Main" or the "Sailor's Hornpipe" signaled their sailor brothers Alf and Bert.
- In 2000, the Dutch revivalist orchestra The Beau Hunks joined the Metropole Orchestra to re-create composer Leroy Shield's soundtrack to Our Relations, working from original sheet music found in a Los Angeles archive in 1994 and 1995.
