Plot summary
Stan and Oliver are members of a fraternal lodge, the Sons of the Desert, and when its Exalted Ruler makes every member swear to attend the order's convention in Chicago, the two of them want to go. Oliver's wife Lottie has already planned a mountain retreat, and Stan doubts his wife Betty will agree. Oliver takes to his bed, and the doctor Stan brings in, a veterinarian by trade, prescribes a long sea voyage to Honolulu. Betty had given Stan permission to attend the convention, but he sails with Oliver instead to watch over him. The pair set off with their wives believing the cruise is medically necessary.
