Plot summary
Gerry March, Connie Blair and Franky Daniels are shopgirls in a New York department store who share an apartment and hope to marry wealthy men. Connie becomes involved with David Jardine, the younger son of the store's owner. Franky is drawn to Marty Sanderson, a slick-talking customer who buys expensive blankets and gives her costly presents. Gerry is pursued by Tony Jardine, the owner's older son, but when he asks her to visit his estate alone, she declines because she believes proper behavior is her only reward.
