One Tough Cop (1998) on Netflix

Plot summary

In the autumn of 1981, the attack on a young nun at a Harlem convent becomes a public scandal and forces the police department's downtown brass to act. A new task force is assembled to take over the case, and Detective Bo Dietl and his partner Duke Finnerly are left out of the biggest manhunt on their beat. The two keep working it on their own, through contacts that include Richie LaCassa, a Florio crime family underboss and a friend of Dietl since childhood. Dietl's personal life is tested as well: Finnerly owes money to a loan shark linked to the Florio family, and Dietl is involved with LaCassa's mistress, Josephine "Joey" O'Hara.
