Plot summary
Christmas nears in Edwardian Toronto, and Detective William Murdoch is called to a train robbery. Witnesses insist the robber showed abilities beyond an ordinary person. Constable George Crabtree notices a resemblance to Jumping Jack, the title character of the graphic novel he has written. More thefts follow, taking gifts from Eaton's, the department store. Murdoch and his colleagues at Station House No. 4 weigh whether Crabtree's character has come to life. Inspector Thomas Brackenreid orders a police choir formed, and Dr. Julia Ogden tries to help two orphans who take her for a fairytale heroine.
