Plot summary
December 1598, the seventh year of the Imjin War. Toyotomi Hideyoshi's dying order sends the Wa forces in Joseon homeward, and Konishi Yukinaga, besieged by Admiral Yi Sun-shin at Suncheon, wants safe passage out. Admiral Yi and his Ming allies, admirals Chen Lin and Deng Zilong, mean to hold the coast and finish the invasion for good. Bribed by Konishi, with a promise that his men will come to no harm, Chen Lin lifts the blockade. Konishi also appeals to fleet commander Shimazu Yoshihiro, who agrees to help destroy Yi, and the Satsuma army sails toward Noryang Strait. Yi expects the enemy to move fast and prepares to meet them at sea.
